Airline Division Week in Review January 15, 2012

Express Jet /ASA Stock Clerk Negotiation Update
The XJT / ASA Steering Committee met on January 10th and 11th to discuss future negotiations with the Company. Rank and File members of the Steering Committee; Monica Horne (RIC), Jeremy Keeble (TYS), Kermit Morrell (ATL), Verena Riese (IAD) and Chris Lomeli (IAH)were joined by the IBT Negotiating team lead negotiator Bob Luciano (Business Agent-Local 210), IBT Attorney Nick Manicone, IBT Airline Divison Representative Chris Moore and Mike Cline (Business Agent-Local 19) to discuss issues of importance to the members as well as the differences in work rules at the respective airlines. The committee has a very busy schedule as they prepare for the next round of negotiations that resume on January 16th and 17th in Atlanta.

Governmental and Regulatory
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is urging Congress to take action on NextGen by dropping a labor provision holding up the passage of reauthorization for the Federal Aviation Administration. "A new NextGen air traffic control system must be a top priority," said Tom Donohue, president of the chamber…The National Mediation Board has scheduled a meeting for American Airlines and three of its unions.

Industry and Labor
American Eagle hasselected Bain and Co. as their labor advisor…A merger with AMR would carry major opportunities for the eventual winner, thanks to American's significant network in the U.S. and internationally.
Pension plans for AMR Corp. The Wall Street Journal, but American Airlines faces pressure to continue funding its pension…US Airways Group and the US Airline Pilots Association have agreed to drop a lawsuit over work slowdowns by pilots…The creditors committee for AMR Corp. is awaiting a plan for the parent company of American Airlines to emerge from bankruptcy. The committee is made up of representatives from three unions, three banks and three companies.
Pinnacle Airlines has proposed a 5% cut in wages for its flight attendants as part of a restructuring plan. The carrier has asked the union representing the attendants to consider the proposal and make a decision by Monday.
Boeing deliveries of commercial aircraft increased by 10% in the fourth quarter of 2011, the company has announced.
Airlines for America has taken over the Airline Industrial Relations Conference, a nonprofit dedicated to airline labor issues.
The demand for maintenance, repair and overhaul work on wide-body aircraft has grown 2% since last year, outpacing demand for MRO services for narrow-body aircraft.
